Raju was just 18 when he saw his brother killed by Indian security forces in February this year. They were walking with two other members of the protected Indigenous Adivasi community in the village of Gomangal, in India’s Chhattisgarh state, when they were ambushed. Raju was shot in the back. His brother and one of their companions were killed and the other was injured.
The police claim they were Maoist militants, but Raju says they were unarmed civilians.
