Advocacy groups are ramping up campaigns for ‘conflict-free technologies’ to help end the devastating violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Illegal mining of DRC’s minerals, which are used in mobile technologies such as cell phones and games consoles, are a major source of income for armed groups in eastern Congo and are often extracted using forced labour.
