Malaysia has one of the world’s largest stateless populations. Without an official nationality, these invisible residents, including children, are relegated to the social margins, denied basic rights and access to schools, hospitals and jobs.
Now the country’s government is proposing a series of citizenship rule changes that campaigners believe will exacerbate the problem.
