Criminal charges against Bangladeshi photojournalist Shahidul Alam violate international human rights obligations, according to a report published by TrialWatch, a criminal law watchdog.
Alam was arrested in August 2018 after he posted pictures of a student protest on social media. He was accused of ‘spreading propaganda and false information against the government’, and says he was tortured in custody.
