German energy giant sues the Netherlands for compensation, reports Nick Dowson.
German energy giant RWE is suing the Netherlands for at least $1.6 billion compensation over plans to phase out coal by 2030 as part of efforts to combat climate change.
The phase-out supposes the closure of heavily polluting coal-fired power plants such as its Eemshvaen power station, which was built by RWE in 2015.
