Artists from Africa’s largest, most vibrant shanty town – Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya (see View From Africa) – pose backstage in their post-apocalyptic costumes for a music video filmed and directed by Ondivow, a young Kibera-born filmmaker and fashionista. Brian Otieno, a 25-year-old freelance photojournalist who was also born and raised in the Kenyan slum, captured the scene. He also curates ‘KiberaStories’, an online photo project that aims to go ‘beyond Kibera’s chaotic appearance’ by demonstrating daily life and drawing attention to the ‘diversity, dynamics and inequality of urban life’.
