A few weeks ago Bangui erupted in violence again, when a Central African from one of the Muslim quarters visited another part of the city.
His motives are disputed – some say he threw a grenade into a crowded street, others that he was merely visiting friends. Whatever his intent, he was dragged from his motorbike and killed, his body set on fire, then dumped outside a mosque in the main city market, known locally as Cinq Kilo.
