Sandra manages a chain burger restaurant; Becky is a counter assistant. It’s a busy Friday night and while Sandra is harassed and burdened by responsibility, Becky and her co-workers aren’t too bothered. Late middle-aged Sandra is a decent sort, and she wants to be accepted – she tells her staff after her pre-shift pep talk that her boyfriend is going to propose, and claims to have an active sex life. Lithesome young Becky, who has three boyfriends in tow, is appalled by Sandra’s clumsiness, her lack of cool – the workplace, like the food, is the mundane made tolerable with a helping of spice.
