It’s an age old debate: how much can popular music actually influence society, or is it simply a mirror to it?
According to a recent report from Action on Armed Violence (AOAV), when it comes to gun crime, popular narratives about music fuelling violence are a distraction from addressing the root causes. Instead, responses ‘should target the systems rather than the symbols’, the report said.
