‘A shared historical, moral and legal responsibility.’1 That’s how human rights groups described the legacy of one of the most painful chapters of France’s colonial presence in Algeria, as they marked the International Day Against Nuclear Tests in September.
The global coalition criticized both the Algerian and the French governments for their lack of action to support survivors and clean up test sites.
