With the US election approaching and an unpalatable choice between two warmongering parties, I am confronting a dilemma faced by many progressives in much of the (so-called) democratic world. That is, whether to swallow hard and vote for the Democrat senior leadership (who showed their true colours under Biden and whose policies I feel represent the interests of global capital), in the hope of stymieing another Trump presidency (with its even more loathsome politics), or to vote for a smaller party whose politics more closely reflect my values, albeit risking giving Trump one more small advantage. Should I just hold my nose and vote Democrat on the principle that ‘a vote that stinks is better than a vote that kills’, or is it all just going to be carnage anyway and I should at least hold onto some sense of integrity by voting on my own principles?
