The US has expanded pandemic-era restrictions which have been used to expel Latin American migrants caught crossing the US-Mexico border.
In a move widely slammed for unlawfully blocking migrants from claiming asylum, on 5 January 2023 the administration of president Joe Biden extended the expulsion policy, known as Title 42, to Nicaraguans, Cubans and Haitians caught crossing into the US.
