It’s been six years now since Joséphine reached European shores, but the memories of her journey from Cameroon remain fresh. ‘You had to pay at every stop [country] in order to complete the journey,’ she explains.
Joséphine, who is now 40 years old, was forced to travel through Libya in order to reach the Canary Islands. The last leg of her journey was on board a wooden fishing boat where she recounts that one third of the other passengers died, including children.
