In August hundreds died in a landslide in Sierra Leone. Dumbuya Mustapha reports on the arguing over who was responsible that has followed – and the efforts to hold the government responsible to ensure the tragedy is not repeated.
In the early hours of 14 August, residents in Freetown awoke to the sounds of screams and cracking trees. Three days of torrential rain had triggered flooding and mudslides, sending a deadly flow of water and rocks into poor communities.
Bai Kamara, whose family home was one of those washed away, is still haunted by the flood.
