They may look like ordinary tourists enjoying a stroll through a port, but the Citizen Inspectors – trained up by marine conservation organization The Black Fish – are doing a vital job to protect our oceans from illegal overfishing.
Eighty-five per cent of global fish stocks are overexploited, and an estimated 50 per cent of all fish traded through Europe are believed to have illegal origins. Regulations exist to curb overfishing; they are simply not enforced.
