Marinah – the name is a new styling of her real one, Marina Abad – comes over as a hugely energetic character on El Baile de las Horas (Dance of the Hours), her first solo album since leaving the much-lauded Ojos de Brujo. She hasn’t strayed that much from her Brujo background – she’s still in Barcelona and this album has plenty of flamenco and rumba to commend it. What is different is its unashamed power pop.
