The World Bank has come under fire for its private-sector investments to reduce poverty, which include funds to companies making TV guides, online shopping sites and croissants.

A Greek long-life croissant company has received a loan worth over $14 million, while the Indian company What’s On Media, is in line for an equity investment of $4 million to create a digital TV guide.
