How does an architecture graduate with ‘a very suburban upbringing’ embark on an adventure that would eventually lead to his becoming one of the founders of a pioneering Welsh eco-village?
For Paul Wimbush, the life-changing decision came in 1993. Paul had spent the previous summer visiting Tipi Valley – the original low-impact eco-community, set up in Carmarthenshire in 1976 – and was desperate to get back. ‘I wasn’t expecting it to change me,’ says Paul. ‘But once I had been there, there was no going back to “normal life”. It was the discovery of a completely different culture. At its heart there was a connection between the people and their environment which really caught my imagination.’
