Marites Bacolod walks slower than most people and only with the help of a decrepit pink metal cane. A traffic accident 14 years ago permanently damaged her right leg.
But early one morning, on 25 January 2011, she limped her way to a human barricade of informal settlers attempting to block a demolition team. ‘I wanted to defend our homes,’ she says.
