Rumours; The Girl with the Needle.
It sounds promising – a political satire of the leaders of the world’s seven liberal democracies with the largest economies. We have big names (Cate Blanchett is the German chancellor, Charles Dance the US president), a big budget, and, you would hope, if in vain, a sharp script.
Their G7 summit is convened to work out a joint approach to a global crisis, and Blanchett’s chancellor is the lynchpin. Confident, suave, and image-conscious, she plays host in a grand house in a Saxony forest.
