With the country heading towards a general election, the clampdown on press freedom is an attack on democracy itself. Busani Bafana reports from Bulawayo.
Zimbabwean journalist Jeffrey Moyo loves his job and wouldn’t swap it for any other. But last year it landed him in prison with the risk of a 10-year jail term.
Moyo, an international correspondent for The New York Times, was arrested in May 2021, accused of making a false representation to immigration officials in relation to obtaining media accreditation for two of his colleagues, Christina Goldbaum and Joao Silva, so they could work in Zimbabwe.
