On the spectacle of John McCain’s funeral.
North Korean broadcasters take note: the funeral of Senator John McCain, who died in August, was a masterclass in hagiography.
The seemingly endless ceremony included military flypasts and a motorcade. As it rained outside, CNN’s Dana Bash remarked that ‘the angels [are] crying’. Inside, McCain’s daughter told the assembled elite (minus Trump) that they were mourning ‘the passing of American greatness’, a man who had experienced ‘real sacrifice’.
